Threat level for Android is on the rise
G DATA publishes current malware statistics for the third quarter
The situation for Android mobile devices is becoming increasingly risky. G DATA security experts counted 810,965 new malware files in the third quarter of 2017. This represents an increase of around 17 percent com-pared to the second quarter. This translates into a heightened threat in Germany. Around 69 percent of smartphone users in this country use Android (source: Statcounter). The current malware statistics are available in the G DATA Security Blog.
So far this year, G DATA analysts have discovered a total of 2,258,387 new An-droid malware strains - 810,965 of which were discovered in the third quarter. From June to September, the experts detected an average of 8,815 new mal-ware strains every day for the highly popular mobile operating system. In September, AV-TEST analysed 21 security solutions for Android. G DATA Mobile Internet Security scored top marks again in the detection of and de-fence against malware. There were also full marks for ease of use and useful add-on functions. The security app again achieved a top placing with 13 out of 13 possible points, and was awarded the coveted AV-Test certification.
